I am asked by many families as they start on the journey of researching the perfect puppy and breeder for thier family and it’s needs, what about the imprint program.
Will my puppy be “messed up” changing homes after 12 weeks in the program?
Will my puppy have a hard time bonding to our family after the imprint program?
This is a letter from a puppy that just left us to go home after a 12 week train with Val. I have never had a family disappointed with a puppies bonding ability after a 12 week train. It is a wonderful experience for the whole family. All 4 of the trainers I work with do a fabulous job of communication and the training of the puppies.
If you have had your puppy trained through Arrowhead and have had an experience you would like to share… We’d like to hear it!
Hi
Thank you very much for the 12 week training program you provided for our puppy, Barclay. We knew how valuable it was when we saw the many videos and photos you sent us in this difficult Covid time, as well as your detailed notes of how the training was going and how to maintain it.
This morning we went for a 1 1/4 hour walk/play time with Barclay. The occasional person who approached from the opposite direction thanked us for how Barclay sat and waited for them to pass. A few people saw how he sat at the curb before we crossed the road and said what a good dog he was. One person at the park greeted him and was patting him for a few minutes and said he couldn’t believe what a calm dog he was. Actually, the vet and her assistant on Monday also mentioned how they couldn’t believe how calm he was at his appointment, unlike other puppies they see. This is all due to your training, which embraced socialization.
When we first adopted Barclay, we thought, yes, that training program sounds like a good idea, and it would be nice to have that critical early training done by someone who knows what she is doing, and thank goodness you did it! He has been a joy for us. He sleeps well and through the night and waits for someone to let him out of the crate. He has not had an accident in the house at all since we brought him home and he is happy to greet family and strangers alike. He is quite socialized with people and dogs and yet very playful, as well.
Barclay is very good with the sit, down, “to bed” in his crate at night, and “bed” in the kitchen on his mat when we have meals or are working in the kitchen. He sits nicely outside our sliding door to wait to come inside.
We figure the Arrowhead Labradoodles are called therapy dogs because of their friendly, affectionate, intelligent nature, but your training has surely enhanced their natures, and has certainly made Barclay a calm, unflappable, trusting and empathetic puppy.
We really appreciate the extra things you manage to incorporate into the training, like the prepping you did with him at home so that he would be unfazed at the groomer’s and that you took him to the groomer for his first puppy groom. He looked even more handsome after that and we are sure he will remember how well that went when we take him the next time. Also, we really appreciated the car experience you gave him, most especially because of our long drive home. He was a real trouper.
Your setting in the country is great and was excellent for him to go for a good romp with your dog.
We highly recommend your training program and consider ourselves fortunate that you trained our puppy, Barclay.
We wish we could have hugged you! Maybe once this blasted pandemic is over.
Regards,
Puppies are wonderful. A well trained puppy is nothing but pure JOY!
