Happy New Year everyone! I thought I would start out this years posts by talking a little about the role of dogs, and pets in general in our current civilization and in the local society. Being in the business of helping families and individuals find pets that will make their lives better gives us much insight to the needs and reasons people choose to adopt pets into their lives, and the Cobberdogs role in civilization.
We are perhaps the most technologically advanced people to exist on earth and maybe, (concerning material science) in the universe. Our understanding of science has pushed us to the point were we could make the future much better, or produce a scenario that precipitates our extinction.
Our phones have essentially turned us into cyborgs, only with very slow bandwidth input, but what will happen to us when that bandwidth input goes from our two thumbs to direct brain to computer interface? Do we not struggle with the existential problem of our own mortality enough without giving us the ability to live indefinitely? This could be the conundrum that artificial intelligence may offer us.
On the other hand we are still biological species, and whether we know or admit it, still crave emotional connection to other biological beings. Obviously the best relationships and connections we can have are to people, parents, brothers, sisters, friends, etc. Human relationships, although the most important thing we have in life after food and shelter, can be fraught with tensions, even though we would die for the person we love. Compound that with the constant connection to the cyber world, and in the not to distant future perhaps the world of AI, it is logical to look to highly developed and intelligent pets such as Cobberdogs to help us alleviate some of the psychological burdens that produce anxiety and negative emotion in relation to our future.
Believe me, I’m no scientist, but I know for a fact that I’m very much like 99% of other human beings, and after a stressful day of work or a day that has had tense relations with others, or just dealing with the regular problems, and negotiations of life, making my last round through all my Cobberdogs, petting them, not necessarily saying anything to them gives me a calm, that is hard to explain here, but is something that can only be felt. There is something inexplicable about touching the soft coat of a Cobberdog, who looks into your eyes with only adoration and no judgement, that will help you know, all is well, and the Being that created us is still watching all, and is good, despite us pushing forward technologically. This is the Cobberdogs role in civilization, to bring peace and reassurance to humankind who is now so highly advanced and intelligent that we have produced much anxiety as a byproduct. Cobberdogs will surely help us maintain our humanity through the next century and beyond as the landscape of human endeavor continues to shift and change. And if we ever do become the space faring civilization that Elon Musk envisions, Cobberdogs will some day travel to other parts of our known universe, keeping humanity grounded in the fact that human consciousness will be forever lost if we loose our biological connections to other creatures. A loss of that magnitude would make the profound phenomenon of our consciousness completely meaningless, and would render everything else meaningless as a result.
To conclude I would like to say, there are very deep reasons why we like and want to have pets in our lives, and a well bred Cobberdog will bring you many years of enjoyment and add far more meaning to your life, then most other consumer items would. The bond developed goes deep, and because a Cobberdog lives 12-16 years chances are high that you will outlive your Cobberdog, and grieving for you pet is also a very important part of our humanity. So find someone who owns a Cobberdog, and go see the dog, pet it, talk to it, talk to its owner, and see what you think. I know my life is better with Cobberdogs and I think you will agree if you experience one! Luke
