Hello Luke and Connie,
The attached is a photo of our Charley who was adopted from you in Nov. 2011. He was born June 24,2011. His mother was Bree and father was Bobbi. Charley is well at almost 12 years of age. He has lived at our 130 acre farm all his life and leaves only for groomer and vet visits. When we travel – our friend moves into our house to provide care for Charley, our 2 horses, 4 chickens and one kitty cat. Charley is very well behaved always and has few requirements – his bed right beside us and lots of love. He was chocolate brown when we met him at your home. After about 3 groomings- he became platinum!
Charley has been daily receiving the Nuvet vitamins from California which you recommended when we picked him up. We attended puppy classes during his first year with us. He learned some basics – “leave it”, “sit”, “stay”, “bow”, “shake a paw” and best of all – “KISSES”! We never proceeded with leash training because he is always “at liberty” except when going to vet or groomer (when we use a choker collar). He loves walks with us to attend to any and all farm and gardening chores. He also seems to be able to tell time – at 4 p.m. he starts to remind us it is getting near “wine time” and in good weather he joins us for that on our front porch. His vocabulary is extensive and he responds readily to “go nighty-night”, “come into my office”, “share” – meaning cuddle up with me on my big chair. He was toilet trained within 2 days. He has never had an accident with elimination inside. (The sign you attached to him on our first introduction said “Take me home and love me. I will never pee on your rug!” and he has been true to his word!) His table manners are atrocious – sits on the floor beside us at the table waiting for a tidbit – our fault because we allowed this from early days. When we have guests – he greets them at the door and when they come into the living room – he claims his chair before anyone has a chance to sit in his spot. He will reluctantly give that up if asked to share. He still loves the game we first played with him – hide and seek – around our circular flower garden. His energy astounds us. His hearing is super sensitive and if our security alarm system goes off – he shakes for hours. As our hearing declines – Charley sometimes goes and hides if we play our 50’s music too loud!
Enough already!!!
He has been the joy of our lives and those of our children and 6 grandchildren. We always appreciate him but never more than during Covid. He is a very giving member of our family. Just thought you might like to hear about one of your many “babies”. We truly are blessed to have Charley in our lives!
