Have you ever thought..
- I would love to get a pup, but I don’t know how to handle all the firsts of training the pup.
- I am ready to get a pup, but I cannot handle the stress of not getting 6 hours nights
- I would love a pup, but I need more support and help with the training than I am offered by most breeders.
- A pup would fit perfectly into our home, but I need someone to help me teach my children how to train a pup.
These are all very valid points and I am glad you are considering them! Makes you a much better and more informed Cobberdog puppy owner, than the person who rushes in and gets stressed after the fact.
We have an option that is very likely to solve these issues for you! We have an inhouse training/puppy imprint program incorporated right into our elite Cobberdog Breeding program! With this option your Cobberdog puppy is FAR ahead of the crowd. These puppies get worked with as a group and individually by many different trainers. This is amazing for the puppies as each of the trainers has a different temperament and has strengths in different areas. These puppies get a super well rounded experience.
These specialty puppies, are given many lessons in all the basics of a good mannered pup. We work on sit, stay, leave it, gentle mouth, lay down and come when called.
Another big one we work on is leash training. A pup who walks nicely on leash is a joy to take out and about, joining you in all your adventures and showing off, getting so much love everywhere they go. Our Cobberdog puppies in our Imprint program, are introduced, to so many new places and sounds on leash. After enough exposure too new things they are amazing at not getting distracted by things they see and smell along the way. Because they get lots of exposure to new things while on leash they build confidence and trust that new noises and places will not cause them harm, but be a delightful new experience.
Cobberdogs have a long grooming life, and one of the biggest favors you can do for your pup is to brush and handle every part of them regularly. This makes the pup supper relaxed at the groomers or vets, plus your groomer and vet will be delighted with you for presenting them with such a lovely puppy to work with. We groom the puppies in our program almost daily.
Crate training is another big one we work on. You may say you do not want to have your pup in a crate once they get home. That’s just fine, but you will want them to know how to relax in a crate. It is best for the pup to have this skill. #1 it teaches the pup independence. It will not need to be by your side constantly to feel safe. #2 if you take your pup to the groomer or the vet and it is not relaxed or ok in a crate by him/her self, you are setting the pup up for a seriously stressful time. Because at these places the pups are almost always placed in crates while waiting their turn. Our Cobberdog puppies in our program, spend nights and naptimes in their crates. We help them learn to love it.
Rides around in a vehicle are another type of socialization we do!
The puppies in this program, get to meet cats and children, and lots of grown people, men and woman. They get to meet cows and a donkey and lots of other dogs. These experiences are wonderful for you pup.. Nothing like a donkeys braw to make a pup question where he is. But a trainer who is prepared will turn the experience into a fun one, and bingo, pupper is that much more ready to move into a home calm and confident!
Seasonally the puppies get to go swimming and some other water sports, or play in the snow. Rain, snow and sunshine and wind all help the pup develop well.
These puppies also get hours a day to play with each other and other puppies. They trach each other so many wonderful qualities about living in a group of other living creatures. This is very important in the training program!
Arrowhead is committed to giving the families/individuals who join our Arrowhead family the very best experience that can be had. We work hard to provide healthy and well tempered puppies that are a wonderful addition to any home.
