Labradoodles, therapy info

Feeling down? Hug a Labradoodle, therapy enough for all of us! GRIN!

The feeling soft soft sprial fleece does a world of good!

Australian Labradoodles, therapy. How compatible are the two? Does an Australian Labradoodle have the strength and endurance mixed with the gentle intuitive nature that is essential for a therapy companion dog? Will an Australian Labradoodle be able to learn the necessary tasks quickly as to be a stable reliable canine companion?

The Australian Labradoodle was created to serve! In 1988 Wally Cochran took a Poodle and a Labrador Retriever and crossed them for the sole purpose of meeting the need of a blind gentleman who also suffered from allergies. The first litter of three Labradoodles was a success with each of the three moving into the therapy world. One puppy was allergy friendly enough to be able to move into the home of the blind gentleman and serve as his guide dog. The very first Labradoodles were therapy dogs and ever after they have been in the front lines bringing independence and a sense of security to the people around them. I have heard from so many of the families who have adopted Australian Labradoodles, “This dog/puppy has changed our lives” “He/She has drawn our family closer together and created a place of peace”!

Wonderful conversation starter!

I would like to put together a list of links to stories of these heroic Australian Labradoodles, therapy services they have given to their human companions! This is one of my passions! I love to read stories about Labradoodles, therapy and better yet I love, love, love to know that one of our own Labradoodles has made a difference in a persons life. Labradoodles have so much to offer and give so completely. All they ask for is a human to love and the basic needs met! Of course the tendancy is to spoil them rotten after we have allowed them to steal our hearts and placed themselves as chief of comfort and silliness in our worlds! I am hoping to add stories of our own about Labradoodles, therapy that were born and raised her at Arrowhead. I think that you will agree with me that one of the best day brighteners is a good read about a kind act, or a heroic deed! If you have a story to tell that you would like to share please do e-mail it too me, I would love to hear it and share it here!
